It's going to be a farmhouse weekend, as soon as husband gets back from his business trip to Vancouver and California.
This is a view of the dinette from the living room.
I bought the base and the top of the table at a junk shop years ago. Husband put them together and I painted them white. The retro chairs we salvaged from the McGill University daycare when they were being dumped in the garbage, also about five years ago.
We did some moving around of furniture last time we were here. Nothing like shaking things up a bit and improving the feng shui. This old cabinet I got from Vie de Campagne in my Montreal neighbourhood. We moved it out of my crafting area in the mud room to this dining room corner. I'm going to add a few more things to the shelves, and maybe our picnic baskets to the top, but my husband, who frustratingly is leaning towards zen-like decorating, likes it exactly as sparse as it is. Does anyone else have to deal with that marital decorating tension between zen and bountiful?
There will definitely be a little bit of sewing going on. Probably not by me. But the kids, yes. Even the littlest one gets on the machine to do some decorative stitching on scraps of fabric. Last time we were here my son stitched up a dress for his little sister in one evening! I'm now trying to convince him to make me a pretty top or a dress :) I'll let you know how that goes...
Hope you all have a wonderful summer weekend!
