Wedding in the Rockies

Lovely day.

 

Dear friends of ours got married last weekend in Banff, Alberta. My husband was best man at the wedding. And yes, somehow I made it there with the whole family in tow. Husband's family was there too, so the kids had lots of fun visiting with them as well as the candy store in town.

 

The Rocky mountains are of course beautiful. We stayed in a nearby town called Canmore.

 

 

 

I only wish I had been well enough to go biking on those beautiful mountain trails, but I guess there is always next time...  

Now, must recover from this trip, because I have work to do and Silver Bella to get ready for.

My Kids Know Me Well

While my three children were out with the puppy playing in the nearby school yard the other evening, they saw this lying on the ground and immediately thought of me.

A perfectly shabby white door knob. Of course they brought it home for me. Don't you just love it when your kids "get you"?!! Or anyone for that matter...

Japanese Lunch Bag Love

OK, so the vintage Italian love affair did not last. Husband and I thought about getting that ultra-cute 1965 Fiat shown in my last post, but reality set in. Living in a city that has a long winter and not having a garage, plus those vintage Italian beauties being a little too high in the maintenance department, well, it just didn't make sense for right now.

However, I am now in love with this Japanese Lunch Bag.

It looks like this when it's empty.

For a simple, non-messy lunch, I think it is perfect. And very stylish. Just look how nice it would look with your lunch wrapped up inside and sitting on your desk all morning, or on a car seat if you're just a gal-on-the-go.

They are sewn by my son and available in his etsy shoppe, Salt Atelier. I know I'll be ordering a custom-made one in the fabric of my choice for when I'm able to go back to work.

Update on My Miss Molly

My Miss Molly is now five months old and doing very well.

We all just love her to bits, even when she chews some things to bits :)   With those sad puppy dog eyes, how can we not forgive her?!!

Son's Etsy Shoppe Up and Running

Well, my 13 year old son, V., has done it. Not only does he have a little exhibition of his work currently going on in Kyoto, Japan, he has opened up his brand new etsy shoppe today and it's up and running. "Salt Atelier" features a variety of his handmade items.

Everything is hand-stitched by him. He has done all of this pretty much completely on his own. I think he has a bit of his father's entrepreneurial spirit :)

Son's Art Show in Japan

If any of you might be in Japan now, my 13 year old son's first art exhibition is currently on at the Linnet Store Gallery in Kyoto. It's listed on their website here (my son's name is Vejas, Lithuanian for "wind", and it's pronounced like Vegas but with the "j" sounding like a "y"). You can get further information about the incredible linen shop here including directions to the shop/gallery.  Hopefully we will be able to get receive some photos of the show.

In other news, after getting the suggestion and encouragement from many of you, my son is working on opening up his own little etsy shop. So besides working several hours a week in a local organic food shop, this is what he has been doing this summer. I will let you know when he gets closer to his opening day...

My Son's First Art Exhibition

As many of my faithful readers will know, I have a 13-year old son who is planning on being an artist.

 

He loves to stitch and sew.

And knit.

Well, without our knowledge, he had struck up a correspondence with an artist in Japan. He has been sending her some of his stitched work over the past half year.

This artist owns a linen fabric shop in Japan and is planning to do an exhibition of my son's work entitled: "Letters from V___" (my son wants to protect his privacy:) In her last letter, she even drew a sketch of how she will set up the little exhibition in her shoppe with his letters, envelopes and creations. (Apparently he also decorates his envelopes with drawings and collage.)

So it looks like my son will be having the first exhibition of his work sometime in July, in Japan. Kind of neat, don't you think?!!

Picking Up Our New Puppy

Some dreams come true, and one of my children's dreams is coming true this weekend. We are off to Toronto this weekend to spend Easter with my family. We will also be picking up little Miss Molly, from the breeder outside of Toronto.

That's our Molly on the left. She's a golden doodle (half golden retriever and half poodle) and she was born on my birthday - February 7th! We can't wait to meet her and take her home!
